Prof Oliver Pybus has expertise in the evolutionary and ecological dynamics of viral infectious diseases and the development of new computational methods for the evolutionary analysis of genetic sequence data. He also works on applying metagenomics and real-time sequencing to characterize emerging viral outbreaks and has previously managed long-term field surveillance of viruses in a wild bird population.
