Dr. Sarah Knowles oversees the field investigations in Wytham, including the use of novel technology to non-invasively monitor wild rodent behavior (space use and contact networks) using RFID loggers. Her research focuses on studying the inner ecosystems of wild mammals – the communities of symbiotic microbes and pathogens that colonise them, what drives variation in these communities and their implications for organismal biology and fitness.
